What is Lewes District Foyer….?
Lewes District Foyer is a 37 bed supported accommodation project, managed by Salvation Army Housing Association. It comprises of 6 clusters where bathrooms and kitchens are shared and 11 single occupancy flats. It is staffed 24 hours a day, offering a safe and supportive environment. Lewes District Foyer provides excellent quality temporary accommodation and access to permanent move-on accommodation.
Where is it….?
Lewes District Foyer is based in Newhaven, in a residential area that is about a ten minute walk from the local town centre and train station. There is a bus stop located near by which provides the main route along the coast to Brighton and
Who can apply….?
· Males and females between the ages of 16-25.
· Be entitled to Claim Benefits
· Be willing to engage with weekly one to one, one hour support sessions and support planning.
· Be willing to engage in the Foyer ethos of education, training and employment.
· Have a degree of self-care or be willing to work with us on this.
(Referrals will be assessed and accepted for young people with substance misuse issues who are willing to address these. This does not, at present, include intravenous drug users).
How to apply….?
Please contact Lewes District Foyer on 01273 615300 and ask for a referral form to be posted to you or one can be collected in person. Staff can also email forms out. If you require support in filling in the application form staff can provide this or contact an agency who may be closer to you who can also provide this.
Application Process.
The allocations panel will offer a face to face interview to all applicants. You will be contacted about this after your application has been received, keeping you updated as to when a void is likely to occur. We will feedback to all applicants regarding their interview.
The Aims and objectives of the Project are:-
· To offer a safe, supportive and enabling environment for young people.
· To ensure that each individual is treated with respect, dignity and politeness.
· To ensure the concept of privacy of information and confidentiality are upheld at all times.
· To support Service Users to access education and/or employment.
· To support Service Users to access a range of housing options, and to work in a planned way to move Service Users to sustainable tenancies through resettlement.
Moving On….?
Tenants can live at The Foyer for up to 2 years. Move on will be addressed from the onset in order to fully prepare and support tenants to have access to a range of options. These include:
· Private rented accommodation
· Local authority accommodation
· Other housing associations
· Student accommodation.
