Kitty Wheeldon Gardens is a well located sheltered housing complex, situated in the heart of Sale with its shops, parks, shops, parks, churches and all the amenities you would expect from a busy, modern town.

Accommodation

24 flats (11 of which are ground floor and 12 first floor).  Each flat has its own front door onto the complex, the groundfloor flats also have a patio door opening onto a well established communal garden, which is maintained to a very high standard by a contracted gardener and together with residents who also like to get involved, the gardne is fenced off providing privacy and security.

Each property has its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The ground floor flats have level access showers and the first floor flats have a bath. The flats are all electric off peak ecconomy seven, and all flats have a lifeline alarm for help in an emergency.

Support

The scheme is supported by a resident Scheme Manager, who works 25 hours per week. The off duty time is covered by Trafford Mobile Warden Services and Trafford Control Centre. All rooms have a pull cord linked to a lifeline alarm. A call is answered by trained staff 24 hours a day. Where residents need assistance with any personal care issues, these can be provided by other agencies accessed via social services. The Scheme Manager can help arrange this, if required.

Community Areas

There is the opportunity to socialise in the garden conservatory, which is used for coffee mornings, afternoon teas, quiz nights and BBQ's, or just to relax and read a book in the warm and welcoming environment.

Social Activities

At Kitty Wheeldon Gardens, there are many opportunities to mix and make friends. Regular social activities are held, at the Salvation Army centre next door to the scheme, such as; a luncheon club, over 60's light lunches and keep fit body and soul. Residents are always made welcome and there is as much, or as little involvement as residents wish to take part in. Staff always respect privacy and freedom of choice.

Services

Regular meetings are held to discuss the service residents are receiving, and residents are encouraged to input ideas and suggestions about service improvements.  Residents can use the Customer Service Centre Monday - Frday who can take repair requests and also deal with any other enquiries.I The Housing Officer visits the scheme on a regular basis, and personal visits can also be arranged.Residents receive a regular newsletter.
