Doncaster Foyer Resident Case Study
Lisa moved into Doncaster Foyer in 2003 at which time she was aged 16 and still in full time education studying her G.C.S.E’s. There were many times that Lisa was under stress and strains due to the previous disruption of not having stable accommodation but Lisa successfully completed her G.C.S.E’s.
Whilst at the Foyer Lisa then went on to study her A Levels during which time she expressed a keen interest in joining the Police Force but one barrier was that she would need her Driving Licence. Lisa was on a low income so could not afford to pay for driving lessons herself. With the support of her Project Worker, Lisa was able to access funding from New Deal for Communities which enabled her to take her lessons and pass her test the second time!!.
Lisa successfully completed her A Levels - although there were times when she felt like giving up - and continued to pursue her interest in the Police Force.
Lisa moved out after 2 years to another Housing Association and since then she has passed her all her examinations for entry into the Police Force. Lisa successfully completed her training for the Police Force and her Project Worker attended her Passing Out Parade.
Lisa regularly returns to the Foyer to keep us updated.
